A federal magistrate on Monday ordered that Rene Gloria, 56, of Clovis will remain locked up until a court hearing on February 11.  Gloria was arrested on January 30, according to Lubbock County jail records.

A federal complaint said Gloria admitted to being a child molester.  The official charge against him was listed as Attempted Coercion and Enticement of a Minor.

In October, Plainview Police were told about an incident between Gloria and a 14-year-old boy, the complaint said. Police were told that Gloria tried to kiss the boy, but he rejected Gloria’s advances.  The incident was in a car in small town in Lamb County.

The complaint said Gloria offered “various things” in exchange for sexual favors but the boy refused.  The complaint included text messages between Gloria and the boy.

“… In the text conversation, Gloria admits to being a child molester,” the complaint said.

“You don’t know s*** n***a you just a p***y a** child melster [sic],” the boy wrote to Gloria in a text.

“Im [sic] a child mostler [sic] be there b**** ur a punk,” Gloria responded.

Gloria was already on parole for another offense – namely, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.  According to the complaint, Gloria told the boy he had relationship with another boy, age 13 – trading vehicles and other items for sexual favors.

Court records said Gloria could potentially face up to life in prison.
