Jerimy McKendrick Purcell, 39, of Lubbock County was arrested Friday for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

On January 10, Children’s Protective Services was told about the sexual abuse of two girls.  The abuse started when they were in 1st and 2nd grades.  CPS was told that the abuse started years ago as inappropriate touching.  It then progressed to other things including sex, according to court records.

Some of the abuse was simply too graphic to be reported here.

According to court records, Purcell told one of the victims, “If she told her mother, her mother would be angry at her and wouldn’t love her anymore.”

Even after one of the girls told her mother and school officials, Purcell continued to try to contact the girls.

“This is a concern for [their] immediate safety,” court records said.

The mother claimed she knew nothing of the sexual abuse.  She admitted that she and Purcell would smoke marijuana in front of the girls.

CPS requested an emergency placement to get the girls into the care of a different family member.

Purcell remained in the Lubbock County Detention Center on Monday morning in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
