A 40-year-old Lubbock County man was taken to University Medical Center by EMS after he was attacked by dogs Tuesday morning.
Law enforcement and EMS were called to a location east of New Deal before 7:30 a.m.
The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said a man was out looking for missing dogs. Several larger dogs (not the dogs he was looking for) from a nearby residence attacked the man.
Other people came to help the man during the attack. He was able to take shelter from the dogs until EMS arrived. The man was in satisfactory condition at UMC Tuesday morning.
Farm to Market Road 1729 at County Road 2700 was blocked for a time.
Neighbors said the dogs are known to get out and causing problems.
The LSO said a dog owner was identified and seven dogs were involved. Officers were working to get a court order. A judge might rule the dogs stay with their owner. Or, the judge might rule that LSO get custody of the dogs. LSO said if the dogs go to the custody of LSO then they will be euthanized.
LSO also said criminal charges were pending for criminal negligence.
