Beginning Friday, Sept. 22,  evening, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will closed Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Boulevard, between 50th Street and US 84, in the city of Lubbock, to traffic to allow Plainsman Switch to safely perform maintenance on the railroad crossing.

The closure will allow Plainsman Switch to remove and replace the railroad planks. Motorists will be detoured around the work zone via 50th Street and US 84.

MLK will remain closed over the weekend. Work is anticipated to be completed Monday, Sept. 25 and the roadway reopened to traffic; weather permitting.
