The following is a news release from the City of Lubbock:
Mayor Dan Pope, along with City Manager Jarrett Atkinson and Police Chief Greg Stevens met Tuesday, July 31 with Lubbock ISD Superintendent Kathy Rollo, Frenship ISD Superintendent Michelle McCord, and Lubbock Cooper ISD Superintendent Keith Bryant to discuss each District’s School Safety Management Plan.
All three school districts have facilities within the Lubbock City Limits, and Tuesday’s meeting ensures communication, protocol, and key organizational contacts are in place to provide a safe and secure environment for Lubbock students, staff, and visitors.
“Ensuring strong working relationships, good communication, and effective procedures are present is paramount to a successful school safety management plan. This was an excellent meeting to have as we begin the new school year,” Mayor Pope said.
“The City of Lubbock, the Lubbock Police Department, and our local school districts will continue to meet and explore the possibility of sharing resources to ensure our schools and our school children are as safe as possible. I truly appreciate Lubbock, Lubbock-Cooper, and Frenship ISD’s Superintendents for their efforts in regard to school safety and in working with the Lubbock Police Department.”
