Local firefighters battled several reported grass fires across Lubbock County on Sunday. 

At least two large grass fires were reported during the noon hour. 

The first fire was reported in the 9200 block of Canoga Avenue in Wolfforth.

The Wolfforth Volunteer Fire Department, West Carlisle Volunteer Fire Department, the Wolfforth Police Department and the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene. 

We’re told this fire was threatening structures in the area. It was put out before 1:00 p.m. 

The second fire was reported in the 4600 block of Woodrow Road.  

The Woodrow Volunteer Fire Department, along with the Slaton Volunteer Fire Department and the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, all responded to the scene of this fire. 

This fire was near a structure and appears to have been put out by mid-afternoon. 

Keep in mind Lubbock County is under a burn ban.
