Our thanks to everyone who participated in the annual HPWD rainwater harvesting workshops during March, April, and May!
A total of 108 persons attended the two-hour sessions in Plainview (March 30); Muleshoe (April 6); Levelland (April 13); Canyon (April 27); and Lubbock (May 4). The first 25 people to register for each workshop received a free rain chain and rain barrel, courtesy of HPWD.
Each session featured a panel of experts who shared hands-on information about rainwater harvesting installation and use, roof gutters, water efficient plant varieties, and xeric landscaping.
Workshop speakers included: Vikram Baliga, Kristin Bingham, Darryl Birkenfeld, Katherine Drury, Michael Fortenberry, Cecilia George, Mark Hilliard, Jason Hodges, Dennis Howard, Carmon McCain, Greg Sokora, and Austin Voyles.
“The district received positive feedback from participants. Most plan to take action and/or make changes based upon information received at the workshops,” said Katherine Drury, Education and Outreach Coordinator. “We look forward to providing an even wider range of conservation information to those attending our 2018 workshops.”
