Last week, Daniel Rowland Thomas, age not listed, of Lubbock accepted a plea deal for possession of prepubescent child pornography.
In April of 2018, Lubbock Police used BitTorrent software for an undercover operation. They tracked a particular image of child pornography to an IP address in Lubbock which turned out to be Thomas.
“In total, the electronic devices seized from Thomas’s residence contained over 1,000 images of child pornography,” court records said.
Many of the images were girls who had not yet attained the age of 12. Some of the images depicted young girls with adult men.
“Thomas voluntarily spoke with law enforcement and admitted to using BitTorrent software to download child pornography,” court records said. “He further informed law enforcement that he used search terms ‘Lolita’ and ‘PTHC’ to locate child pornography. These search terms are generally associated with graphic child pornography.”
Under the terms of the plea deal, if accepted by a judge, Thomas will face a maximum of 20 years in prison.
Thomas was arrested on January 11, and he was allowed terms of pre-trial release three days later.
