Xavier Garcia, 20, was officially charged Thursday with murder for the death of Katrina Castillo, 20. Garcia had already been named as a person of interest in the case on Wednesday.
The warrant did not describe what led up to her death, but it did say he confessed, and it also said he was a previous resident of the location where her body was found.
The warrant said he stabbed her in the 4200 block of East 2nd Street. Her body was found in the backyard.
Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe did not describe what happened leading up to her murder in a press conference Thursday.
Prosecutors requested a $350,000 bond.
