The following is a news release from Texas Tech University:
The Texas Tech University Office of Undergraduate Admissions will host a come-and-go reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of a new recruitment center in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The event begins at 3 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 1) at the new location, 8704 Cypress Waters Blvd., Suite 150 in Irving. The ribbon-cutting will occur at 4 p.m.
The new recruitment center will be a one-stop shop for prospective students interested in attending Texas Tech, as well as a resource for high school counselors and community college partners in the area.
High school counselors, community college advisers, alumni and businesses in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are invited to the event, and colleagues at other institutions of higher education will be in attendance.
“This new facility provides us an opportunity to better reach future students and parents, as well as high school counselors and community college advisers since more students enroll at Texas Tech from the Metroplex than anywhere else,” said Jamie Hansard, executive director of admissions at Texas Tech.
The opening recognizes Texas Tech’s continued growth as a national research university and allows the university’s undergraduate admissions staff to reach more prospective students.
Unlike the previous center in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the new location is in a retail area, which Hansard said she hopes will equate to more exposure and traffic.
“Ultimately, our goal is to recruit more students,” she said. “We want other students from this area to know Texas Tech is an option for them.”
In addition to the new center, the Texas Tech Credit Union has partnered with the university to provide mortgage lending services to North Texas in a space adjacent to the new recruitment center.
The credit union has served the Texas Tech family since it was chartered in 1959. This growth into the Metroplex creates opportunities to continue meeting needs and creating value.
“Our location in Dallas/Fort Worth will allow us to better serve the Red Raider community,” said Chris Hutson, Texas Tech Credit Union CEO. “We are excited about this joint venture with Texas Tech University.”
Refreshments will be served at the reception, which is free and open to the public.
