The following is a statement from the Texas Department of Transportation:

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is set to activate the new traffic signals at the US 84 and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard (MLK) intersection on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Prior to being fully activated, the intersection will temporarily become an all-way stop condition to allow crews to safely adjust the signals. Both flashing red lights and temporary stop signs will be used to notify motorists of the 4-way stop conditions.

Work is scheduled to begin after the morning rush hour and anticipated to continue throughout the day.

The signals are part of a $532,293 project that installed new traffic signals and signal poles, made improvements to the US 84 median, added flashing yellow left turn arrows and installed a vehicle detection system designed to improve traffic flow on US 84.

Work will take place weather permitting.
