Work to replace the overhead large sign posts and cantilevers is scheduled to take place next week along the Marsha Sharp Freeway (US 62/82) widening and Phase 5B projects. The work will require various overnight closures beginning Monday, June 26. Overnight Tuesday and Wednesday traffic will also be impacted.
The closures are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. each evening with the roadway reopening to traffic by 5 a.m.
Lane closures scheduled are:
Monday 6/26: Eastbound MSF mainlanes at Slide Road will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be detoured onto the frontage road.
Tuesday 6/27: Westbound MSF mainlanes between University and 4th Street will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be detoured onto the frontage road.
Wednesday 6/28: Westbound Spur 327 frontage road and on-ramp, west of Milwaukee Avenue, will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be detoured at Milwaukee Avenue to connect to US 62/82.
The work will take place weather permitting and is part of a $17 million project to widen six miles of the Marsha Sharp Freeway from a four-lane to a six-lane facility. The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2017.
