Area firefighters, along with the Texas A&M Forest Service, battled several grass and wildfires across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains on Sunday.

Two of the more significant fires were reported in Garza and Lubbock County.

The “Conner Ranch Fire” near Post, in Garza County, had burned at least 100 acres and was 0-percent contained as of last report. The Texas A&M Forest Service said that their single engine air tankers (SEATS) were being dispatched to assist in fighting this fire.
The “Lake Bottom Fire” near Wolfforth, in Lubbock County, burned 20 acres and was 100-percent contained as of last report. Authorities said this fire threatened at least ten homes in the area.
A small grass fire was also reported and quickly extinguished at the LakeRidge County Club in Lubbock Sunday afternoon.
There have also been numerous other grass fires reported across the region.
Critical to extremely critical wildfire conditions will continue into the evening and overnight across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. Red Flag Warnings, High Wind Warnings and Wind Advisories remain in effect for the area into Monday.
