Officer Hurt When Suspect Crashed Into Lubbock Police Unit

Lubbock Police said a pursuit of a stolen vehicle had just been called off when the suspect crashed anyway near 40th Street and Quaker Avenue Thursday morning.  

Police said the suspect crashed into an unmarked police unit.  The officer suffered moderate injuries, police said.  The suspect suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment, police said.  A third driver also suffered moderate injuries.  


The suspect’s name was not released, and charges were pending against her.  

The LPD accident investigation team was called out.  After the crash, Quaker from 40th to 43rd was temporarily shut down for investigators. 

The situation started when someone called police to say his vehicle had been stolen.  He directed police to it.  The driver did not stop and there was a 5-minute long chase.   

Police decided to call off the chase, but right after that the driver disregarded a stop sign and hit the police unit.  Two other vehicles were also involved.
