As rain continued across the area Friday afternoon, Lubbock Police warned drivers to be careful.

“We’re starting to see some traffic issues due to rain. We’ve had to assist drivers who have stalled out in standing water at the intersections of N. Slide & Erskine and N. Quaker & Clovis,” police said on Twitter.

Police also said, “We’re also seeing a lot of water on Milwaukee b/t 66th & 82nd St. Please drive w/ caution!”

“Roads around the #TexasTech campus are experiencing flooding. Please avoid low-lying roads and areas that typically experience flooding,” Texas Tech tweeted.

Lubbock Fire Rescue was asked to respond near the Lubbock Business Park just before 4:30 p.m. There was report of a car stuck in rising water, but LFR was not able to find the vehicle.

As of 4:30 p.m., the Texas Tech Mesonet site reported 0.11 inches for rain for the previous hour and 1.13 inches for the day.
