The Patterson Branch Library will host its annual Black History Month Celebration to honor the achievements of African Americans in U.S. history. The ceremony will begin at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 23, at the Patterson Branch Library, at 1836 Parkway Drive. Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Griffith and T.J. Patterson will be giving welcoming remarks. 

The featured speaker will be the new Lubbock Library Director, Stacy McKenzie, who will speak on how libraries are “community anchors” and will discuss the future of libraries in Lubbock.

After the ceremony, there will be food from Hank’s BBQ, music entertainment from Jay Serrano, and activities for children.

The event is free and open to the public.
