Lubbock Police were called to a pedestrian accident early Monday morning which resulted in serious injuries.  

Police said the driver of an SUV was going southbound in the 100 block of Zenith Avenue when the SUV hit a pedestrian in the roadway.  

“The 48-year-old female pedestrian was taken by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries,” police said. “Initially the driver left the scene, but she called police and returned to talk to officers.”

Police identified the driver of the SUV as a 32-year-old woman. LPD provided a brief email statement on Monday, but a police report was not yet available.
