Lubbock Police were called to the report of shots-fired in the 1500 block of 24th Place at about 11:45 a.m.
Initially, officers did not find any victims, but then police were told that a gunshot victim showed up at the Covenant emergency room. Officers responded to both scenes.
Police believed the injuries are not life-threatening. Officers blocked off an area of Avenue N between 24th Street and 24th Place while they looked for a suspect.
Lubbock Police issued the following statement Thursday afternoon:
At approximately 11:45 this afternoon, the Lubbock Police Department received multiple reports of gunshots fired in the area of 1500 24th Place.
Officers quickly arrived on scene but were unable to locate any victims. A short time later, LPD was notified that a possible gunshot victim had arrived by private vehicle at Covenant Medical Center.
Additional officers responded to the hospital. The 28-year-old male victim had moderate injuries to his leg that are not life threatening.
Officers canvased the area of 1500 24th Place for possible suspects, witnesses and evidence.
At this time the suspect has not been located, however officers did arrest Dwight Briley, 58, for tampering with evidence.
