The Lubbock Police Department said there was an officer-involved shooting Monday afternoon.
The incident was reported in the 2000 block of 49th Street before 4:00 p.m. A police spokesman said officers were called in reference to a domestic disturbance.
LPD said a person at the scene pulled a knife on a responding officer, and the officer fired shots. A suspect suffered potentially life-threatening injuries, police said.

Officer Involved Shooting
(LUBBOCK, TX) – Detectives with the Lubbock Police Department are currently investigating an officer involved shooting Monday evening. Just before 4 p.m., officers were called to the 2000 block of 49th Street in reference to a domestic disturbance.
Initial information indicates officers approached the door and a male confronted them with a knife. When confronted, the officer fired shots.
The male was struck, and the responding officers immediately began applying life saving measures while calling for an ambulance.
The male was transported by an ambulance to UMC with possibly life threatening injuries. No officers and no other individuals were injured during the incident.
At this time detectives with the Persons Crimes Unit are investigating the shooting and the circumstances behind the original call concerning a domestic disturbance. An internal investigation including a shooting review board will also be conducted, which is standard procedure.
