Lubbock Police on Wednesday released an image on Facebook and Twitter with the question “Have you seen this man?”

A police report referenced by the LPD on social media said a man took merchandise from a convenience store without paying.  A store employee confronted the man.

“[The victim] advised [the suspect] had a rock in his hand and he lunged toward him threatening to strike him with the rock,” a police report said.

What might have otherwise been a theft case instead becomes robbery because of the threat of violence.  The police report said the store employee was not injured.

The incident happened on August 8 at 3:19 p.m. at the 7-Eleven convenience store at 2608 Avenue Q.  An image was provided but not a physical description of the suspect.

Neither the police report nor the LPD social media posts said specifically what merchandise was stolen.
