LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock Police said an 18-year-old died after a crash Saturday afternoon at the intersection of 4th Street and Toledo Avenue.
Police identified the crash victim as Brenda Castorena.
Police provided the following written statement:
The Lubbock Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 3:40 p.m. on April 6th at the intersection of 4th Street and Toledo Avenue.
Officers arrived and located a car and a pickup truck towing a trailer involved in the crash. The driver of the car, 18-year-old Brenda Castorena, was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The 22-year-old male passenger of the car and the 71-year-old male driver of the pickup truck were also transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators with the LPD Major Crash Investigation Unit arrived on scene to begin an immediate investigation into the crash.
Preliminary information indicates the car was traveling eastbound on 4th Street in a turn lane and continued straight, striking the pickup truck that was in a westbound lane.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the LPD Major Crash Investigation Unit.
