The Lubbock Police Department released a police report concerning the robbery of Happy State Bank.
Police were called to 4402 19th Street at about 3:00 pm Monday for the report of a “bomb threat.” Police later said a suspect used a suspicious package as part of a bank robbery.
A police report said, “During the listed date and time [the suspect] entered [the bank]. [The suspect] handed [a bank employee] a note demanding cash. [The suspect] exhibited a bomb. [The employee] gave [the suspect] the listed property. [The suspect] fled the scene and was not located.”
Police said on Monday, “The suspect was last seen headed west bound on a bicycle.”
“The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20’s, or early 30’s. He has a beard and was last seen wearing a ski hat and sunglasses,” police also said on Monday.
On Tuesday, LPD followed up by saying, “We are continuing to ask the public to keep an eye out for the suspect in yesterday’s robbery at #HappyStateBank We have received a lot of great tips, but we still need your help! #call911 #SeeSomethingSaySomething.”
The suspicious package at the bank was a little more than 30 minutes after a suspicious package was found on the campus of Texas Tech. Both calls required a response from the LPD bomb squad.
