Lubbock Police were called to a bank robbery on Friday at 11:10 a.m. Police said a man held up the bank at 1215 University Avenue and then ran off in an unknown direction.
That location is across the street from the Texas Tech campus.
Police said the suspect handed a note to a bank teller to demand money. The suspect then took cash and ran out in an unknown direction
Police said he never displayed a weapon, and there were no injuries.
Police described the suspect as a black male, 6’2” tall and 200 – 230 pounds. Police said he was wearing a grey zip-up hoodie, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes.

In compliance with Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, TTPD is giving a timely warning notice about an armed bank robbery. On March 1, 2019 at approx. 11am, LPD responded to a report of an armed bank robbery at the Wells Fargo bank, 1215 University Ave.
The following is an update from the Lubbock Police Department:
The suspect in this case was arrested today at 3:37 pm, inside the Greyhound Bus Station, 801 Broadway Ave. Demetrius Spence, 50, was located with a bus ticket going out of town in hand. Demetrius also had active federal warrant for bank robbery. He has been transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center and will be booked on those charges.
