Lubbock Police responded to the report of a stabbing late Tuesday morning in the 1500 block of 39th Street.
Police told a photojournalist at the scene that a man and his fiancée were walking to a park when a group of men drove by. They stopped, got out of their vehicle and stabbed the man. Then they took off.
The man suffered serious injuries.
A few hours after the incident, police provided this update:
A 32-year-old male victim was located on scene and taken by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
Through an initial investigation by responding officers, it appears a SUV suddenly stopped near 39th Street and Avenue N and two male passengers got out of the vehicle. Officers were advised the two men confronted the victim who was in the area, and during the confrontation one of the men allegedly stabbed the victim.
The suspects then left the scene. At this time no arrests have been made. This assault will be investigated by the LPD Domestic Violence Squad.
