Police shut down a portion of Indiana Avenue in South Lubbock for investigation

On Tuesday, Lubbock Police Department crash investigators will temporarily shut down parts of Indiana Avenue near 118th Street for the investigation of a January 18 crash.

The closure will begin at 9:30 a.m. and is expected to last about two hours. Please avoid the area during the time in question. 


Lubbock Police released the following information concerning the crash:

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on January 18th, Lubbock police officers responded to a two-vehicle crash in the area of Indiana Avenue and 118th Street.

An off-duty officer driving an unmarked police car was traveling northbound on Indiana. It appears a driver of a car traveling eastbound at 118th attempted to cross lanes of traffic and the two vehicles collided. The off-duty officer had moderate injuries.

Due to the crash involving a city vehicle and off-duty police officer, LPD crash investigators were called to the scene to investigate.
