Sammy Miller and The Congregation, led by Juilliard trained Grammy Award-nominated drummer, Sammy Miller, will perform its unique joyful jazz sound for the opening spring performance of the Presidential Lecture & Performance Series.

While independently the band members have  performed and recorded with such notable artists as  Wynton Marsalis, Lady Gaga and Queen Latifah, and at venues including The White House, Lincoln Center and the Hollywood Bowl, the group has united on a mission to put the generosity back into jazz and bring art back to the people.

The SF Weekly said Sammy Miller and The Congregation performs “feel-good party jazz, harking back to the ‘20s and ‘30s … it’s got the raw, uplifting vibe of a New Orleans street parade.”

Tickets for the performance are $18 and are available through Select-A-Seat at (806) 770-2000 or www.selectaseatlubbock.com. Texas Tech students are eligible to receive one free ticket with a valid student ID at the Student Union Building info desk. There will be a CD signing following the performance.
