LUBBOCK, Texas — According to the unofficial final results from Lubbock County, Terrance Kovar won the Republican race for Lubbock County Commissioner Precinct 1 in the March 3 Texas Primary.

Kovar had 50.02 percent — just barely enough to avoid a runoff. Lee Ann Dumbauld had 42.93 percent and E. ‘Major’ Garza had 7.06 percent.

Kovar currently works for the city, while Dumbauld was the former City Manager for Lubbock. Dumbdauld made the announcement she was running for Precinct 1 in August 2019.

Garza has military and business experience and said he felt for Lubbock County that “transparency is an issue right now,” according to an interview with KFYO.

There is no Democrat in the race for November, so if the unofficial results hold up, Kovar will be the County Commissioner-elect for Precinct 1.
