Private Investigator for Zoe Campos Family Comments on Remains Found

Lubbock Police announced early Thursday afternoon that remains had been found in Clapp Park, and there was reason to believe these were human remains.  Later, the Lubbock County Medical Examiner confirmed the remains were indeed human.

A private investigator for the family of Zoe Campos said volunteers had searched an area nearby in the park at one point.

The P.I. said it was not the same area still being searched on Thursday, but it was on the other side of the park. The search started Monday with a discovery of a bone by joggers.

Police said, “Investigators responded to that scene and took custody of what they believe to be a human bone.”

Police also said, “Crime scene investigators have been searching the area for additional remains.”

That includes help from the Lubbock Fire Rescue Dive Team which was asked to search a playa lake in the park.

Campos disappeared November 17, 2013.  She was on her way to pick up her mother but never showed up.  Someone was seen driving her car.  Her last cell phone ping was located near Lowrey Field.

“I am frantically waiting on the outcome,” Melinda Campos, Zoe’s mom, said in a brief written statement for EverythingLubbock.com, “I pray that it’s not my babygirl. But at the same time someone will get answers. I believe every parent of a missing child hates situations like this, but prays for answers.”

Other missing persons in the Lubbock area would include Maegan Hembree, Jennifer Wilkerson and Enoe Garcia, Jr.
