The University Interscholastic League will hold a handful of meetings Tuesday

Two sessions are set to include discussions on policy and athletic standing.

ATHLETIC STANDING

A meeting of the UIL Standing Committee on Athletics will be held Tuesday, at the Austin Marriott North in Round Rock. The standing committee meeting will begin 15 minutes after the conclusion of the Full Council meeting that begins at 8:00 a.m.

During the athletic standing meeting, the UIL is set to discuss the following, among other items:

1) Increase the number of games for middle school basketball.

2) Change summer workouts to 24 days for more flexibility.

3) Options for spring training in football.

4) Elementary school athletic leagues.

5) 6A home field advantage for baseball.

6) 4A and below home field advantage for football

7)  A proposal to ban train horns at football games.

8) A proposal to increase the penalty for players who are ejected from a contest.

9) A proposal to modify the fall practice regulations and spring training for football.

10) A proposal to require schools to create venue specific Emergency Action Plans.

11) A proposal to require schools to report catastrophic injuries.

POLICY MEETING

A meeting of the UIL Standing Committee on Policy will be held Tuesday, at the Austin Marriott North in Round Rock. The standing committee meeting will begin 15 minutes after the conclusion of the athletic standing committee meeting.

During the policy meeting, the UIL is set to discuss the following, among other items:

1) Proposals to implement Division I and II for all UIL sports.

2) A proposal to refrain from scheduling UIL competitions on Saturdays.

3) Proposals to allow homeschool students to participate in UIL activities

4) A proposal to extend the pilot program that allows UIL to approve one Friday night live telecast of regular season football games.

5) A proposal to require schools to report when an Automated External Defibrillator is used in conjunction with a UIL event, practice or competition.
