Residents breathed a sigh of relief after a long-lived tornado caused minimal damage when it traversed multiple counties on Sunday.
No injuries were reported during the tornadoes that formed in Dora, New Mexico, and continued through Bailey, Lamb, Castro, and Swisher Counties.
Norma Salazar, a resident of Hart, heard the sirens in her town, and said her family took shelter in their cellar.
“This was one scary weather we had,” she said.
The storm did minimal damage to the counties in the South Plains. However, Lamb County Sheriff’s Office found one farm that took a hit.
The tornado damaged the silos on the property, threw debris from buildings into a nearby field, and tore down power lines.
