On Thursday, the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees voted to finalize Dr. Kathy Rollo as the new superintendent.  The board named her as the sole finalist on December 17.

Now that a 21-day waiting period is up the board finalized her and announced, “Rollo will begin her duties on February 1.”

Outgoing superintendent Dr. Berhl Robertson, Jr will remain temporarily with LISD as a special assistant to Rollo.  His retirement – announced in October – is effective at the end of the current school year.

In a written statement from LISD, Robertson said, “I suggested Dr. Rollo begin in the superintendent role immediately, so she could experience the spring budgeting and hiring cycles, while I’m available to be a resource to her.”

In that same statement, Rollo said, “I am grateful for the Board of Trustees’ confidence in me and giving me the opportunity to begin in February as planning for next year is getting underway.”

Rollo also said, “Dr. Robertson’s willingness to serve in an advisory role and provide me with the benefit of his expertise is much appreciated and will be helpful.”
