Subject to the approval of a bankruptcy judge, the Lubbock location of Sears will close.
Sears Holdings Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday in the Southern District of New York. It listed 142 store locations that it would like to shut down.
Nine locations in Texas were listed in bankruptcy records. Both Sears and Kmart locations were listed together.
Lubbock’s Kmart location closed in late 2016.
Sears said in court records Monday, “The Debtors hold an aggregate of approximately $6.9 billion in assets and approximately $11.3 billion in liabilities as indicated in their most recent consolidated balance sheet. The Debtors estimate that they have more than one hundred thousand creditors on a combined basis.”
Sears wants to hire a liquidation consultant until December 31, 2019.
