LUBBOCK, Texas — Strong to severe thunderstorms will impact portions of the South Plains and the Rolling Plains Tuesday afternoon and evening.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Briscoe, Childress, Cottle, Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hall, Hockley, Kent, King, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Motley, Stonewall, Swisher, Borden and Scurry County until midnight.
The primary concern with thunderstorms will be large hail. However, a few storms could produce a brief tornado and damaging winds.
The storms will move off the east and northeast.
The thunderstorm threat will end later this evening.
Severe weather over North Texas and in the Dallas-Forth Worth metroplex could impact flights in and out of Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport Tuesday evening.
Areas of patchy fog will develop overnight after the storms move away from the South and Rolling Plains.
