Lubbock Police were called to the 2200 block of 47th Street just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for a report of shots fired.

Police received multiple reports of shots fired from several people.

Police said one person suffered moderate injuries.

The following is a statement from the Lubbock Police Department:

At approximately 4:20 p.m., the Lubbock Police Department received multiple calls reporting gunshots in the area of 47th Street and Avenue V.

Officers arrived on scene but were unable to locate any gunshot victims in the area. A short time later, LPD was notified that a female gunshot victim with moderate injuries had been dropped off at Covenant by a private vehicle.

Detectives with the LPD Persons Crimes Unit and the Texas Anti-Gang Center (TAG) responded to the scene to immediately begin an investigation into the shooting. It appears there was a crowd watching a fight outside in the street. At some point during the physical altercation, multiple gunshots were fired and several people ran from the area.

At least one vehicle and a home were struck by the gunshots. The female dropped off at the hospital is the only person to be reported with injuries at this time.

Detectives are currently on scene working to gather more information on who was involved and what led to the shooting.
