Lubbock Police were called to the 2500 block of Amherst Street for the report of a shooting Wednesday morning.

EMS was also called and there was a report of a gunshot victim. Police have not released details and we don’t know yet how bad the injuries are. The report of shots fired was after 11:00 a.m.
A reporter and a photojournalist are working to get more information.
Just before noon, police released a brief statement:
At approximately 11 a.m., Lubbock Police received a call that shots had been fired in the 2500 block of Amherst Street.
A gunshot victim has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Officers have two possible suspects in custody, and their possible involvement is still being investigated at this time.
Due to the seriousness of the victim’s injuries, investigators with the LPD Persons Crimes Unit are responding to the scene.
