Volunteer firefighters were called to the Lubbock Cooper middle school on Thursday morning. There was a report of smoke inside one room. The cause was determined to be a malfunction in a heating unit.
The school district said students were evacuated from the building and taken to the LCISD Performing Arts Center
LCISD said, “At no time were students or staff members in danger. All students and staff members were evacuated without injury.”
LCMS students will eat lunch at the high school and then return to the middle school.
“Parents who wish to pick up their Lubbock-Cooper Middle School students before they return to their home campus may park in the west parking lot at Lubbock-Cooper High School and pick up students up from the LCISD Performing Arts Center,” LCISD said.
