The South Plains Food Bank has received an overwhelming amount of donations to send to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. They need volunteers to come together and sort through the donations and pack boxes.
On Sept 6 the food bank is asking for volunteers from 6 to 9 p.m., sort and pack family food boxes to send down to the coast. Macy Lopez, Communications Coordinator for the food bank said having volunteers build the boxes can help get the donations to the most impacted areas faster.
“We’ve just seen the Lubbock community really want to get involved somehow and someway,” Lopez said. ” Everyone wants to help. These are our fellow Texans. These are our neighbors and so we are giving the community that opportunity to come out and do that.”
There are only 150 volunteer spots available and you must sign up to volunteer.
