LUBBOCK, Texas — On Thursday, EverythingLubbock.com obtained a letter sent by the Texas Medical Board’s senior investigator explaining to a Lubbock County official why an investigation into the medical examiner’s office will continue beyond the standard 180-day duration.
Currently, NAAG, the company in charge of the office of Lubbock County Medical Examiner, is under investigation by the medical board and the Texas Rangers. Among the allegations, at least one family, one former employee and one former contractor accuse the medical examiner’s office of removing organs from children without the consent of their families.
In the letter, Senior Investigator Sherri Parsons explained it was their duty by law to notify parties involved of a reason for the investigation continuing past the 180-day mark.
The letter read, in part: “The reason this particular investigation will exceed the 180-day statutory deadline is that the complaint at issue is currently under administrative review in regard to possible resolution. You will be advised of the status of the complaint upon completion of this review.”
