The following downtown streets will be closed for the 17th Annual Hub City BBQ Cook-off presented by Suddenlink:
· Main Street from Avenues Q to N
· Ave. N between Main Street and 10th Street
· Ave. O between Main Street and 9th Street
These streets are scheduled to be closed from 6 a.m. Wed., Sept. 20, until 8 a.m. Fri., Sept. 22. This will impact eastbound and westbound traffic on Main between Avenue Q and Avenue N, and northbound and southbound traffic on Avenues N and O between Main Street and 9th Street. Travelers who frequent this area are urged to take alternate routes on Wednesday and Thursday.
Permits are currently being processed by the City of Lubbock. Event time is Thurs., Sept. 21st from 5-8 p.m. Entry gates will be at Main Street and Avenue O, 10th Street and Avenue N and 9th Street and Avenue O. A map of the event is available at hubcitybbq.com.
Over 100 teams compete for bragging rights to the best BBQ in West Texas. Eligible cooking teams are members of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce. Categories include brisket and ribs, other meats and desserts. Entertainment includes headliner by Texas Country music artist Micky and the Motorcars and opening by the School of Rock.
Advance ticket prices through 5 p.m. on Sept. 19 are $25 for adults, $15 for children 6-10; and no charge for children 5 and under. Gate prices are $30 for adults, $15 for children 6-10; and no charge for children 5 and under.
