The Texas Department of Public Safety said a man from Tahoka lost his life in a crash 8 miles east of Brownfield on Monday.
DPS said Robert Sosa, 57, of Tahoka lost his life in the one-vehicle crash. DPS said Pablo Bernal, 56, of Tahoka was driving a pickup truck east on U.S. Highway 380. At about 8:22 p.m., Bernal lost control of the pickup truck, DPS said.
“[The] driver said that he hydroplaned on the wet road,” DPS said. “[The pickup truck] was coming out of a left hand curve and began to spin counter clockwise.”
DPS said neither Bernal nor his passenger Sosa were using seat belts. The conditions were rain and fog, DPS said.
Bernal’s injuries were described as “incapacitating.” He was taken to Covenant Medical Center.
