Lubbock Police were called just after midnight Tuesday morning to the 1500 block of 29th Place for the report of a shooting. A teenager was injured and according to his family he needed extensive surgery.
A police report said three friends were at the Dream Center playing basketball. They decided to walk home when a suspect was “mean mugging” them and approached them in the 1100 block of 31st Street.
As the suspect approached them from across the street, the friends saw him reach into his waistband and pull out a gun. The three tried to run but according to the police report the victim “has a disability with his legs and cannot run very good.”
The suspect then ran off, according to a police report.
Two witnesses told police that the suspect shot at them with a gun. The victim was not able to recall much when talking to police. A second-hand witness told police that the victim had been shot with a pellet gun.
