Prices at the pump continue to fall across Texas as drivers hit the roadways traveling to their holiday destinations.
As of Saturday, the statewide gas price average is now $2.00 a gallon for regular unleaded, according to AAA Texas.
This is roughly six cents lower than last week and roughly 17 cents lower than this time last year.
Gas prices have been falling in Texas since mid-October due to falling crude oil prices.
AAA Texas is predicting a record 9.1 million Texans will be traveling for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
The agency said the most expensive gas prices on average can be found in the Midland area, while Amarillo area drivers are paying the least amount.
Nationally, the gas price average had fallen to $2.34 for a gallon regular unleaded as of Saturday.
The national average price is roughly five cents lower than last week and roughly 10 cents lower than this time last year.
According to GasBuddy.com, the lowest price at the pump in Lubbock was $1.72 on Saturday. The average price in Lubbock was $1.86, according to the website.
