Texas Tech Announces Changes to Heat Management Plan

Texas Tech Athletics announced a change to its heat management plan Thursday as fans will now be allowed to bring in one unopened 20 ounce (or less) bottle of water per person to all outdoor venues.

Fans will only be allowed to carry an unopened 20 ounce (or less) bottle of water through the gates. Empty cups, opened bottles or other drinking containers will not be permitted at any venue.

In addition, for fans attending Jones AT&T Stadium this season, Texas Tech will have four cooling stations located throughout the concourse to assist fans with heat-related issues. These stations will be shaded and stocked with cold towels, circulating fans and sun screen.

“The health and well-being of our fans is always a priority to our staff when hosting events,” Tech Senior Associate Athletics Director Robert Giovannetti said. ““We want our fans to have a great experience and we feel this plan helps us achieve that goal.”

The new initiative will go into effect Sept. 2 when the Red Raider football team hosts Eastern Washington at 3 p.m. inside Jones AT&T Stadium. The Tech soccer program opens its home slate the following night with a 7 p.m. kickoff against Appalachian State at the John Walker Soccer Complex.

As a reminder, Tech’s clear bag policy will remain in effect for all athletic venues during the 2017-18 athletic year. Fans will be able to bring the following style and size bag or package into the venue:

Tickets for each of Tech’s sporting events can be found online at TexasTech.com. Season tickets to catch all six games inside Jones AT&T Stadium are still one sale for as low as $184 per person while mini-plan options and the Red Raider Pass are both available as well.
