Texas Tech University has established the Hurricane Harvey Scholarship Relief Fund to help students of Texas Tech University and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center who have been impacted in any way by the storm that devastated many communities along the Texas coast during the last week.

That includes students who lost loved ones or property as well as students in the National Guard who have been called up to serve during the hurricane’s aftermath.

Every cent donated to the scholarship fund will go to scholarships, and the donations are tax deductible. Donations can be made at give2tech.com/hurricaneharvey.

Relief efforts
The scholarship fund is not the only way Texas Tech is helping with the relief efforts. Numerous campus organizations are collecting donations for hurricane victims along the coast, and offices across campus are ready to help students either in Lubbock or elsewhere who are in need.

Students who have been affected by the disaster can fill out a Raider Relief Form to request assistance or special accommodations related to their payment plan, financial aid, registration, housing or other situations.

Admissions
All reasonable accommodations and support will be provided for new freshmen and transfer students who are unable to attend classes because of Hurricane Harvey. If necessary, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions will defer admission to the spring 2018 semester.

Counseling
The Student Counseling Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for any student seeking individual or group crisis counseling. Appointments can be made by calling (806) 742-3674, or 24-hour mental health crisis support is available by calling (806) 742-5555.

Financial assistance
Texas Tech understands that the extensive flooding aftermath and related recovery deployments and assistance may impact families financially for some time. For anyone impacted financially by the disaster, Student Business Services is offering the Raider Relief Emergency Payment Plan with no enrollment fee, no interest and deferred payments. To enroll, contact Student Business Services.

The Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships also is available to help students affected by Hurricane Harvey. Contact the office at (806) 742-3681 or finaid.advisor@ttu.edu for more information.

Food insecurity
Food is available for students who may not have regular access to sufficient food. Food options are available through the Texas Tech Graduate School, (806) 742-2787, and through the Center for Campus Life, (806) 742-5433.

Online or distance support
Students needing access to Blackboard may consider the free Blackboard mobile app. It allows the students to post a discussion, reply to discussion posts, view or print documents, view grades, submit assignments, send email/course messages, view due dates and access Collaborate sessions. Taking exams is also possible although not recommended on a mobile device. The app links to Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Drive.
