The following is a press release from Texas Tech University:

Hosted by Student Union & Activities, events throughout the week expose students to the importance of safe and responsible alcohol use.

Student Union & Activities is hosting the National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week from Oct. 23 to Oct. 28. Throughout the week, events including training, film screenings and celebrations, will raise awareness of alcohol-related issues on college campuses.

The focus this year is helping students better understand alcohol abuse, impaired driving and how to make healthier decisions regarding alcohol.

“It’s my hope that, through National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, students begin to understand how alcohol can and does affect them,” said Kelsey Jackson, unit coordinator of Student Union & Activities. “This week is a great opportunity to bring together various Texas Tech University departments and community organizations to showcase resources available to students and bring the campus community together through alcohol-free programming.”
