A day after a threatening message was found on a campus bathroom wall, the Texas Tech Police Department detained one person who was then released, police said Friday on Twitter.
At 11:34 a.m. Friday, officers detained a “suspicious person” on the sidewalk outside Holden Hall. On Thursday, Holden Hall was where a written threat to “shoot up the school” was found on a bathroom wall.
Social media posts Friday showed photos of officers outside Holden Hall, sparking rumors on the detained person’s involvement with the threat.
“After interviewing the person, it was determined the person was not a threat to the campus community and the person was released,” police said.
The Texas Tech Police Department said there were no reports of any disturbances at any building on the campus.
Classes continued as normal Friday.
