Different departments and organizations at Texas Tech University will host Halloween events for the campus and Lubbock communities.
Halloween Carnival
- 1-4 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 28)
- Hosted by Phi Alpha Delta
- Forum, School of Law Building
- There will be games, trick-or-treating and other activities for families, including face-painting and a photo booth. The event is open to the public. Free parking is available in the School of Law parking lot.

Halloween Spookeasy
- 7:30-11 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 28)
- Hosted by Sigma Tau Delta
- Second floor English Atrium, English and Philosophy Building
- Students will present Halloween-related literature. Food and drinks will be provided. There also will be a costume contest and raffle tickets for spooky prizes. Students may sign up to read at the Spookeasy in the English Atrium.

Hauntcert and Instrument Petting Zoo
- Activities start at 5 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 29) with the concert beginning at 7 p.m.
- Hosted by the School of Music and University Symphony Orchestra
- School of Music Hemmle Recital Hall
- The instrument petting zoo in the School of Music is a chance for the community to approach orchestra students and touch or attempt to play their instruments. The Hauntcert is a special Halloween concert by the University Symphony Orchestra. There also will be a creative costume contest in the lobby of Hemmle Hall and the winner will conduct the closing numbers. Admission is free and guests may park in the School of Music parking lot.

Your Legal Guide to Protecting Yourself in a Zombie Apocalypse
- 2-3:30 p.m. Monday (Oct. 30)
- Hosted by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)
- Museum of Texas Tech University
- Members of the Lubbock community are invited to a class regarding legal rights during a zombie apocalypse. The street law workshop will go over every question regarding legal duties and analyze the processes of zombie apocalypse movies. The class is $15 for anyone over 50 and interested in OLLI classes. Call to reserve a seat.

Safe Treat
- 6-8 p.m. Monday (Oct. 30)
- Hosted by the Residence Hall Association and the Texas Tech University residence halls
- Anyone in the community can come trick-or-treating around most Texas Tech residence halls. Wristbands will be given at the first stop and must be presented at every stop after. There will be “Boo Buses” available to transport people around campus. Parking is available in any Z residence hall lot from 5:45-8:15 p.m.

Tech-or-Treat
- 6-8 p.m. Monday (Oct. 30)
- Hosted by Student Union and Activities
- Student Union Building
- Tech-or-Treat is a safe alternative to trick-or-treating. It is hosted by Texas Tech student organizations, Greek life and campus departments. There also will be a book drive at the event. The parking for Safe Treat will also be available for Tech or Treat.

Trick-or-Treat Parade
- 3:30 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 31)
- Hosted by the Child Research Development Center (CDRC)
- The trick-or-treating will take place at the Administration Building, Human Sciences Building, the Development Building and Doak Hall. Afterward, there will be games and activities at the playground of the CRDC. This event is for the families of children enrolled at the CRDC.

El Día de los Muertos Procession
- 5:30-9:30 p.m. Friday (Nov. 3)
- Hosted by the Office of International Affairs
Stops for the procession:
5:30-6:30 p.m. International Cultural Center
Themed artwork by Future Akins, Dan English, Valerie Hill, Ginny Mahan, Cindy Peanick, Jimmy Peterson, Shannon Samson and Hutchinson Middle School students. The West Gallery will feature artists Annalee Schubert and Ellen Stanley. There will be mariachi music in the Hall of Nations. There will be Strolling Catrinas and drummers from the School of Music. Attendees can make flores de papel, get their faces painted and decorate sugar skulls while there.
6:30-7:30 p.m. School of Art
Landmark Arts presents an Ofrenda in the South Gallery in memory of the victims of this year’s natural disasters. The Landmark & Studio Galleries will present “Current Reflection on the Natural and Manmade,” an exhibit of contemporary crafts by 32 U.S. artists.
6:30-8:30 p.m. Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts at The Icehouse
There will be artwork from Lubbock High School, Irons Middle School, Evans Middle School and Hutchinson. Refreshments will be served.
6:30-9:30 p.m. Buddy Holly Center
The Fine Arts Gallery will feature Celebraciόn, an annual exhibition of artwork that explores the meaning and history of Día de los Muertos. Grupo Vesso will provide live entertainment in the Meadows Courtyard. Traditional refreshments, cash bar and children’s activities will be available throughout the evening.
