In an effort to bring more fun dog events to Lubbock, the Heart of the Plains Kennel Club is hosting The Canine Amazing Race on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 8:00 a.m. The concept of the race is similar to the Amazing Race television show. Each team will have one two-legged partner and one four-legged partner, as well as, one additional person that will help document the progression of the team with either videography or photography. Participants will go to various locations around Lubbock and have to complete challenges in order to move on to the next location. The challenges will be fun for dog and owner and do not require extensive training. Our thirteen intrepid teams will gather at Cook’s Garage, 11002 Hwy 87, where their first challenges will be held and then continue their challenges until they reach their final destination, Rocking Paw Dog Training and Kennel Suites, 6690 Foster Road in Ropesville. Prizes include a $100 cash prize for first place, plus a treasure trove of dog toys for the first three finishers.

One of the missions of the Heart of the Plains Kennel Club is to supply local dog owners with healthy and engaging outlets to be more active with their dogs and therefore encourage responsible pet ownership. The entry fees from the teams and donations will help the Kennel Club bring more dog events to Lubbock in the future.
