The following is a press release from United Family:
The United Family® has partnered with the Science Spectrum to give children a fresh hands-on experience to better understand modern grocery shopping with the opening of the new United Supermarkets Kids Market.
On Tuesday, Oct. 31, Science Spectrum visitors can celebrate the newly branded and refreshed interactive exhibit coinciding with The Silly Science Carnival for preschoolers from 10 a.m. to Noon.
“Lubbock kiddos have been pushing mini grocery carts through our stores for years, so why not offer their own shopping experience too,” said Robert Taylor, president of The United Family. “The United Family is proud to sponsor this community exhibit at the Science Spectrum and provide a first-hand look at how we shop in today’s grocery store.”
Children will be able to push a grocery cart through a miniature grocery store, including canned goods, bakery, floral, dairy and frozen foods. The permanent exhibit also educates children on good food choices including a variety of fruits and vegetables.
A special ribbon-cutting will take place at 10 a.m.
All Silly Science Carnival activities will be located in the museum and the Exhibit Hall and are included with standard museum admission. $8 for Adults and $6.50 for children (3-12) and Seniors (60+). Children 2 & under are free with an adult. Tickets to the Silly Science Carnival also include full museum admission.
The Silly Science Carnival is only recommended for families with preschool aged children, up to age 5. No scary costumes please!
