LUBBOCK, Texas – On Saturday, June 1, Texas Parks and Wildlife will allow everyone to fish for fun without any licenses or endorsements as part of “Free Fishing Day.”

Texas Parks and Wildlife hosts free fishing day on the first Saturday of June every year, according to their website. This gives everyone the opportunity to try fishing for the first time, the website said.

Texas has more than 70 state parks in which anglers can fish for free year round with proper licenses and endorsements.

A fishing license is not required for those who are under the age of 17, a person born before January 1, 1931, a person who is mentally disabled fishing as part of medically approved therapy or fishing under the direct supervision of someone with a valid fishing license.
